the cast of the show
In this Saban remake of a Japanese/French anime series, we follow the many adventures of Marina, who first wanted to be human under "Hedwig" the sea hag's spell. After her spell breaks, due to a snotty princess going after Prince Justin, Anselm the wise man and his wise otter, Ridley tells him the whole story and gives him tonic, so he can explore underwater. There, we hear the legend about a golden scroll that can change mermanoids to humans and live forever and also to re-unite humans and mermanoids. But the problem is, the rascally Hedwig and her ditsy shark friend, Dudley [who joins the good side] are going after them, no matter where they go. But if that's not enough, a spoiled nobleman wants to exploit the mermanoid folks. Will Marina and her friends fight the odds? Yes they can!

A T-Rex from Dinosaur isle ahoy
Whether its guiding some thawed-out dinosaurs and giant Mesozoic reptiles [e.g. Pterodactyls, mosasaurs] to a lost prehistoric island, meeting a sand tiger shark named Bubbles, befriending a bubble-blowing dragon, helping a gull named Gulliver, or even battling a slew of new villains like Colassa-ray, this series is surely full of nautical nonsense, whenever you wish.

Plot summary[]
Marina is a mermaid who is in love with Prince Justin, a human prince from a kingdom on the shore. Marina saves Justin when he almost drowns after a chase from a giant Cyclops and a shipwreck attack from a three-headed sea serpent. She then makes a new deal with Hedwig the crazed sea witch to become human temporarily to try to win Justin's love. Justin and Marina become close but Justin thinks that Princess Cecily, a human princess, was the one who saved him from drowning and therefore he gets engaged to her. Justin eventually remembers that Marina was the one who saved his life but by then Marina becomes a mermaid again. The two continue to secretly meet and try to find a way to be together while battling Hedwig and her plans to take over the kingdom and Cecily's attempts to get Justin to marry her. Marina and Justin are aided by their underwater friends Winnie the seahorse, Bobo the tropical fish, Dudley the hammerhead shark, and Ridley the sea otter. They are also aided by the wizard Anselm and by Chauncey, Justin's page.

Main characters[]
- Marina: A mermaid with waist-length golden blonde hair and green tail who is the protagonist of the show. After she saves Prince Justin of Gandor she falls in love with him and wishes to become human, and then, she does thanks to Nestor's magic trident.
- Prince Justin: Prince of Gandor and Marina's boyfriend.
- Winnie: Marina's seahorse friend and constant companion. Unlike real world seahorses, she has the ability to scream at very high pitches which causes people to pass out. She also has the ability to fly when she is out of water.
- Bobo: Marina's tropical fish friend. He often spies on Hedwig and reports back to Marina and the rest of the gang.
- Gulliver: a heroic seagull who once got Marina's voice back from Hedwig by yelling in her ears and shattering the shell. He is Marina's best friend and he talks heroic and his saying is "Just give me a chance, madam"
- Dippy: Marina's dolphin pal, he has a thing for collecting seashells
- Bubbles: a sand tiger shark, he helps Marina by scaring barracudas with his snapping jaws. He likes to eat sardines-on-crackers and he says "Don't be scared, man!"
- Sandra and Sally-the leafy sea dragon brothers, Winnie's sea horse cousins
- Myrtle: Marina's hawks-bill sea turtle pal, he talks in a surfer-dude voice
- Ridley: Marina's sea otter friend and Anselm's companion. Unlike real world sea otters, he seems to be able to breathe under water indefinitely.
- Anselm: Prince Justin's tutor and secretly a sorcerer who was once in love with Hedwig in their youth.
- Chauncey: Prince Justin's short, goofy and loyal page.
- Gerald: A grouper who loves jokes, his saying is "Hey, easy there!"
- Crusty: a spider crab and Marina's crustacean pal, he likes to sing and juggle seaweed-balls.
- Alfred: a friendly blue-spotted stingray who is Marina's best friend, he likes to tell jokes and have fun
Antagonists and Anti-villains[]
- Hedwig the Sea Witch: The sea witch who acts as the main antagonist of the show. She was once a sorceress who was in love with Anselm until her hunger for power forced him to banish her to the sea. She comes up with plot after plot to capture Marina and Justin so she can exchange them for the Amulet of Power which would make her the most powerful person on both land and water and therefore rule the world. Just like a mermaid, she doesn't have legs and her tail resembles that of a moray eel. The power that she uses most often is to release prehensile vines from her long fingernails. In the final episode, Hedwig is changed into a sea dragon [a relative of the sea horse] and gets used to her new life.
- Dudley: Hedwig's half-witted scalloped hammerhead shark second-in-command. His role was a lot more prominent than the other henchmen of Hedwig and he served as the comic relief among the antagonists, until Dudley learns to be nice and joins Marina's side.
- Ray: Hedwig's manta ray. He acts as her means of transport and spy. He is heard speaking sometimes but other times he is shown to only be able to mumble (though Hedwig can understand him even then). It's not clear what his name is as Hedwig once calls him Ray and another time she calls him Manta, until Ray turns to the good side and a new foe named Colossi-ray joins the villain league.
- Colossal-ray: Hedwig's new stingray helper
- Hugo: Hedwig's giant pacific octopus who acts as her strongman, until he joins the good side.
- Barracudas & Tiger sharks: Hedwig’s army, but they're also good guys, especially a tiger shark named Tiara and a barracuda named Baron Snippet.
- Cecily: A mean aristocratic girl who likes Prince Justin even though he doesn't reciprocate her feelings. She was his promised bride before he met Marina. Her father is Lord Ainsworth.
- Prince Lothar: Prince of Brakston (Gandor's enemy country) and Justin's sworn enemy. He often cooperates with Hedwig, until he is freed by a great dragon named Skipper who defeats Prince Lothar by making him to community service or else he'll feed him to the saltwater crocodiles.
- Mantoras-a nasty half-manta/ half man character, a new foe that Marina stops by summoning a pod of whales who ram him. However, he has a son named Ralph who refuses to be as bad as his dad.
- Crabby: A mobster who's a lobster, he adds comic relief, alongside his sweet-talking Hench-shrimp, Piste
- Piste: Crabby's Hench-shrimp
Secondary and minor characters[]
- Ralph: Mantoros' son, who is inspired by Marina's art
- Barnabas: Marina's younger brother (cousin in the English dub). He is a very good inventor and his tail is blue.
- Murphy: A friendly moray eel, and he's Marina's pal
- Polly: a hyacinth macaw who needed help to find his way to the Amazon Jungle, until Gulliver helps him. He has a cool voice, and the parrot has cameos in some episodes.
- Skipper: a friendly sea dragon [based on the reluctant dragon] who punishes Lother, Cecily and helps King Nestor defeat Hedwig by helping Nestor turn Hedwig into a leafy sea dragon. In full detail, Skipper is a bubble-breathing ocean-dragon who is befriended by Marina, since he sent her a message in a bottle
- Coral: Marina's bossy older sister. Her tail is pink.
- Fredrick: a gentle talking great white shark who helps Marina, at times
- King Nestor: King of the world's oceans. King Nestor is extremely strong as can be seen when he easily beats Hugo with his bare hands. His tail is dark blue.
- Marina's grandmother: She lives in the same castle as Marina. She is seen briefly in two episodes and her voice can be heard in another one.
- King Charles: Prince Justin's father.
- Queen Catherine: Prince Justin's mother. She is very interested in her son's love life and tries to act as his matchmaker.
- Popcorn: A funny shrimp who speaks with a Spanish accent, he's green and yellow.
- The Dinosaurs and pterodactyls: They are thawed out of the arctic ice by Nestor's tridents, and the giant reptiles wreck havoc under the sea, that is, until Nestor finds Dinosaur Isle and the giant reptiles thank the sea king. the main dinosaurs are T-rex, Hadrosaurus, Triceratops, Brontosaurus, Stegosaurus, Velociraptor, Baryonyx, Allosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Diplodocus, and Iguanodon, whilst the pterosaurs include Pteranodon, Quetzalcoatlus and Pterodactylus.
